About the role
We are currently scaling our inspection team at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). With the airport undergoing a massive multi-year expansion, we need a Mechanical Inspector who thrives in high-stakes, complex environments and wants to leave their mark on a landmark Austin project.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical systems, including air handling units, chilled water systems, plumbing, and specialized aviation mechanical equipment.
- Verify that all work aligns with approved plans, specifications, and local building codes (UPC, UMC, etc.).
- Maintain precise daily logs, progress reports, and deficiency lists using digital project management tools.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, general contractors, and airport stakeholders to resolve technical discrepancies in real-time.
- Ensure all mechanical installations are performed under strict adherence to OSHA and airport-specific safety protocols.
Requirements
- At least 5+ years of experience in mechanical inspection, specifically on large-scale commercial or industrial projects (Aviation experience is a massive plus).
- A valid state or ICC certifications in Mechanical and/or Plumbing inspection.
- The ability to read complex blueprints, BIM models, and submittals with ease.
- A firm but fair approach to enforcement and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check for a secure SIDA badge.
