A Snapshot of Your Day
A day in the life of a Welder-Fitter specializing in stainless steel pipe for gas turbine and compressor packages begins early in the workshop, with a morning briefing to review project goals and priorities, and where the welder reviews project specifications and safety protocols. The morning is spent preparing materials, cutting, and fitting stainless steel pipes, and ensuring all components meet quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform work following all safety procedures and policies.
- Reads and interprets drawings and schematics.
- Weld, tack and certify mechanical welding as required. Work and operate cutting rigs, welding machinery and measuring tools.
- Review, Interpret complex Assembly instructions, specs and blueprints. Able to use and understand computers.
- Inventories, cleans and visually inspects all components and stages all equipment needed for assembly and safely offloads incoming parts off transport using proper lifting/rigging equipment and technical questions.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or 10+ years relevant experience with Stainless Steel Welding.
- 5+ years relevant experience in Welding and fabricating of Stainless-Steel pipe for the Assembly of Rotating Equipment Packaging and testing.
- Experience and trained in welding and cutting tools and processes.
- Inspects repairs, replaces, installs, and maintains all mechanical components, assemblies on gas turbines and compressor associated packages.
- Unless otherwise specified in contractual documents or engineering drawings, qualification of pipe WPSs and welding personnel shall conform to ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code. (GTAW P8 6G – must pass test)
Qualifications
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
