About the role

Join our construction team as a Mechanical Field Engineer supporting a combined cycle power project. In this role, you will help keep field activities moving in alignment with project contract specifications and technical requirements. You will serve as a key connection between engineering, construction leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives, helping resolve technical questions, support field execution, and ensure work is completed to quality standards noted in specifications, contracts, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical piping and equipment installation activities for gas-fired power generation projects at combined cycle facilities.
• Work closely with home office engineering, vendor technical advisors, OEM representatives, subcontractors, and client teams to ensure equipment deliveries, technical support, and field activities align with specifications and drawings.
• Provide technical guidance by interpreting design drawings, specifications, and project requirements, while helping subcontractors understand the overall design intent.
• Monitor assigned subcontractors for compliance with technical requirements and support timely resolution of field questions to reduce delays and keep construction progressing.
• Coordinate with the Field Subcontract Manager, prepare daily site reports, complete quantity take-offs to support planning and invoice review.
• Maintain conformed-to-construction drawing markups and project records.
• Respond to Contractor Information Requests and Requests for Information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 6+ years of construction management experience in similar facility construction or a Professional Engineer (PE) license with 4 years of design experience and 6+ years of construction experience.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

Skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and related construction documents.
  • Ability to work effectively with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Preferred:
  • 2 to 6 years of construction management, field engineering, or design experience on power generation, simple cycle, combined cycle, or similar facility construction projects.
  • Experience with gas turbine, HRSG, steam turbine, balance-of-plant, mechanical piping, or equipment installation on simple cycle or combined cycle projects.
  • Knowledge of cost control and scheduling.
  • Ability to complete material take-offs and field estimates.
  • Mechanical system design experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Contract administration experience.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Physical Demands:
  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • See and hear naturally or with correction.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; requires repetitive movement.
  • Work above 5 feet in height; climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Work Environment:
  • Typical construction site environment: cramped work spaces, awkward positions, very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures, and exposure to inclement weather (dust, wind, snow, rain).
  • Exposure to extremely bright or low lighting conditions and distracting or uncomfortable sounds and noise levels.
