Mechanical Field Engineer
About the role
The Cheniere Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Project is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility located on the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay in Gregory, Texas. The 1,000-acre facility consists of three operating Trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 15 million tons per year (MTPA), three LNG storage tanks with combined capacity of 480,000 cubic meters of LNG, 2 Jetty superstructures that can accommodate the world's largest vessels, and dozens of associated buildings and utilities.
Responsibilities
- Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for all discipline system installations on an ongoing basis.
- Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for LNG, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution.
- Preparing short-term and long-term schedules, and interfacing with the superintendents and other discipline field engineers.
- Executing field material takeoffs from "Issued For Construction" drawings.
- Preparing field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries.
- Troubleshooting the design, resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator using formal field documentation processes.
- Ensuring all installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards and codes.
- Acting as point of contact for coordination and resolution of all technical issues related to select contractors on site who provide technical services for the execution of the permanent plant mechanical scope of work and preservation.
- Completing and verifying quality documentation per inspection and test plans.
- Completing final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking and close-out.
- Completing and reviewing as-built documentation.
- Maintaining actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule.
Requirements
- Construction experience assigned to a construction site.
- Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing technical services subcontracts.
- Experience on an LNG construction site especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Qualifications
- University/B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 6 years of experience, or 10 years of equivalent industry experience in-lieu of a degree (Grade 25 Preferred).
