Mechanical Fabricator II

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints and drawings
• Ensure correct material/products are used in the project
• Evaluate the quality of materials, parts, and equipment before the fabrication process is started; report any concerns to management
• Adhere to and implement proper fabrication and assembly techniques efficiently and effectively
• Utilize general fabrication tools safely, efficiently, and effectively
• Maintain accurate dimensional tolerances and product specifications
• Conduct quality check at assignment completion; report any concerns to management
• Maintain traceability requirements by reporting as-built modifications to management redline documentation
• Safely handle materials manually and/or with lifting equipment
• Monitor tools for breakage and tool wear symptoms and report equipment issues
• Perform required maintenance and upkeep on specified equipment
• Understand fabrication processes and the materials produced in department to support projects
• Assist with other tasks, within or outside the department, based on operational needs (e.g., finish work, paint prep)

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and/or FCAW)
• Fabrication and mechanical assembly experience
• Basic knowledge of welding symbols
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Knowledge of rigging equipment (a plus)
• Ability to learn TAIT business software (Epicor, Slack, Box)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility with work schedule
