Mechanical Engineering Technician II

Duties

• Prepares reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis
• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
• Products engineering document, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics)
• Helps scope equipment for use and completes qualifications
• Aids Engineers in creating, modifying, and testing products and processes
• Operates and maintains test equipment
• Uses typical hand tools to build and set-up equipment using drawings and other documentation
• Uses complex measurement equipment to collect and record data
• Executes designed test protocols and conducts testing
• Works with the team to organize lab functions and test equipment
• Notifies manager upon recognition of factors that may affect the project
• Documents and communicates test results effectively

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• A combination of equivalent education and experience or a minimum of training beyond high school or secondary school in a technical discipline with more than 2 years relevant experience
• Experience using test equipment such as an Instron for tensile and compression testing
• Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of electro-mechanical devices
• Proficiency with personal computers
• Experience using MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Ability to understand and perform designed test procedures
• Good organizational skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to follow directions and effectively execute written and verbal instructions

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical field
• Ability to train lower level technicians and operators
• Experience working in cross-functional teams
