Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Maritime Mechanical systems
- Navy tag-out, WAF programs and applicable Naval procedures / instructions
- Able to maintain quality and associated documents
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior personnel
- Understanding of shipboard Mechanical Machinery Equipment and systems such as main propulsion machinery, auxiliary machinery and hydraulics
- Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, and inspect Hull, Mechanical and Electric (HM&E) equipment
- Ability to disassemble, clean, assess and inspect, reassemble and operationally test mechanical systems
- Knowledge of mechanical systems components such as valves, bearings, gears, remote operators, couplings, system alignment, etc
- Fully versed in the use of all types of precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and torque wrenches
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals, make red-line drawings, and design recommendations
Qualifications
- Prior military experience directly related to the position or prior experience within the Maritime Industry (2yrs minimum)
- Prior experience with US Navy Auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to; Cargo/Aircraft/Weapons Elevators, Watertight Doors and hatches, Hanger Bay Doors, CIWS
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities
- Flexibility with schedule in regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
- Ability to obtain and maintain Navy CAC or DBIDS security credentials
- Valid Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- OSHA 10 required or willing to obtain
- Must be PUNCTUAL AND RELIABLE
