Mechanical Engineering Technician
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Aid in the assembly of test fixtures and engineering prototypes during development projects.
- Perform troubleshooting tasks on both new and existing mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies.
- Execute hands-on testing in laboratory or field settings to evaluate the performance, durability, and functionality of mechanical, electrical, and optical systems.
- Maintain organized records of testing results and troubleshooting findings for future reference and traceability.
- Collaborate with mechanical and other engineering disciplines to provide support for testing, troubleshooting, and other engineering tasks during development projects.
- Attend cross-functional meetings and provide input related to prototype assemblies and troubleshooting findings.
- Assist test and other engineering disciplines with the specification, procurement, and assembly of new test equipment and setups.
Education & Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (EET, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
- Relevant hands-on experience from internships, technical training programs, or relevant coursework is beneficial.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft 365, Teams).
- Experience in using defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Understanding of CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
- Exceptional ability with assembly and teardown of mechanical systems.
- Ability to prepare and present test and troubleshooting findings in front of a group.
- Familiarity with U.S Department of Defense contracts and requirements.
Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; use hands and fingers to handle and touch objects, tools, or controls to work in a production environment. Vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times. Ability to perform physical tests and handle tools/equipment used for prototyping.
