Mechanical Engineering Specialist (Design)

About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design) specializes in designing detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, create layouts, and prepare engineering drawings.
• Coordinate design activities with various teams to ensure cost-effective solutions that meet requirements.
• Lead design efforts for aircraft modifications and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
• Review and approve design packages.
• Utilize advanced 3D CAD tools for design work.
• Ensure designs support aircraft modifications.
• Track project schedules and budgets.
• Work within aircraft production environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of aerospace mechanical design experience, or a graduate degree with 4+ years of experience; or 10+ years of related experience without a degree.
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX/Unigraphics, ProE, Catia).
• Knowledge of aircraft systems and structural repairs.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• US citizenship required.
• Adaptability to work on flight lines and in aircraft environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance.
