Mechanical Engineering Co-op
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join the EWS Electrical Infrastructure Division in West Hartford, CT.
About the role
In this role, the engineering co-op will assist the Product Development Team with basic product designs through CAD modeling and drawing documentation. Functions include working with Design Engineers and Engineering Managers on assignments that support testing of products, maintenance of products, customer-related issues, and general product engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Modeling and documenting design elements for engineering solutions
- Creating testing environments for products, conducting the tests, and documenting results
- Reviewing product standards and updating as required
- Working on the manufacturing floor to solve design-related issues
- Providing engineering support to sustain current product offerings and evaluate new product designs, including performing product testing in the laboratory
- Preparing written and verbal reports
- Conducting engineering studies and investigations
Requirements
- College Junior or higher preferred; pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a BSME program
- Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including development of assemblies using part models of components, is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to contribute to several projects at a time
Skills
- Familiarity with usage of a network analyzer, hand-held cable analyzer (e.g., Fluke), and multimeter (preferred but not required)
