About the role
This position involves preparing specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials, estimating costs for budget preparation, and providing technical support to other departments.
Responsibilities
- Preparing specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials
- Evaluating and reviewing mechanical equipment and piping sizes and layouts
- Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems
- Designing, controlling, and implementing mechanical systems and products
- Collaborating with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential mechanical engineering products or projects
- Maintaining and reviewing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications
- Supporting engineering and construction of projects through site visits
- Providing technical support to other departments and personnel as needed
- Writing and compiling reports regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies
- Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities
- Preparing reports for upper management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, welding, or industrial engineering from an ABET accredited program, or
- Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license in Mechanical Engineering
- 4 - 8 years of experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong mechanical and technical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with the design and specification of power generation fluid systems including steam, condensate, fuel gas, cooling water, compressed air, and similar systems (especially natural gas plants)
- Proficiency in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software
- Strong P&ID and equipment layout review skills
- Experience with pumps, fans, boilers, welding, conveyor systems, etc.
Qualifications

Pay
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 annually.
