What You Can Expect
The Mechanical Engineering Advisor role within the Capital Projects structure reports to the Director of Engineering. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop conceptual designs for power, heating, and cooling systems
- Support procurement and construction processes
- Respond to Request for Information (RFIs) and manage field change documentation
- Lead and participate in technical reviews, Hazard Identification and Analysis (HAZID)/HAZOPs, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and procedure development/review
- Ensure compliance with permitting and regulatory requirements
- Ensure reliability, integrity, and operational excellence of existing district energy assets
- Lead decarbonization efforts for existing assets
- Develop and analyze thermal, hydraulic, and energy models
- Evaluate and optimize existing customer energy infrastructure
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 7 years of working experience in design/engineering of power plants, chilled water, HVAC systems, and district energy systems in North America
- Demonstrated knowledge of gas turbines, gas engine gensets, HRSGs, steam turbines, chillers, heat pumps, pipe distribution systems, and geo-exchange
- Experience in thermal engineering related to district energy, utilities, and combined heat and power systems
- Knowledge of applicable industrial codes and standards such as ASME, NFPA, ASHRAE, EN, ISO, and others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to coach and mentor staff
- Ability to handle varied assignments independently with a high degree of accuracy
- Software knowledge of thermal design and performance modeling tools like GT Pro, Gate Cycle, Termis, and Familiarity with data historians like OSI PI and WebCTRL (preferred)
- This role is eligible for ENGIE's hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel domestically up to 30% to 50% of the time
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record; involves occasional fieldwork across active construction sites
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- Salary Range: $140,000 – $170,000 USD annually
