As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of power projects. You will collaborate with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for a variety of power projects.
- Design mechanical systems and select components based on project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
- Prepare mechanical equipment, including packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
- Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data; interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
- Quality review and update production drawings for various projects and project-related data to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
- Quality review construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of mechanical systems.
- Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power-generating facilities.
- Communicate with other disciplines (electrical, structural, civil) engineers for efficient project coordination.
- Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
- May also have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
- 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Successful completion (i.e., passing) FE or EIT preferred.
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Skills
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Pay
$100,000.00 - $165,000.00 yearly. The expected compensation range is based on individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
