Mechanical Engineer - Power (Multiple Locations)
About the role
The Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of power projects. The role involves working with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. Responsibilities include mechanical design from the conceptual phase through design completion, modifying and reviewing production drawings, designing mechanical systems, selecting components, preparing equipment specifications, and compiling information for client presentations.
Responsibilities
- Work with project teams to create designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on various power projects.
- Adapt mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
- Design mechanical systems and select components for project needs and requirements.
- Prepare mechanical equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
- Data interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
- Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
- Quality reviews and updates production drawings for a variety of projects and project-related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
- Coordinate with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of mechanical systems.
- Communicate with other disciplines (electrical, structural, civil) engineers for efficient project coordination.
- Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
- May have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
- 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Successful completion (i.e. passing) FE or EIT preferred.
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Pay
$100,000.00-165,000.00 Yearly. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
