About the role
Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - New Graduate to join our dynamic team in Lyndhurst, VA. This position offers hands-on experience in designing and developing advanced industrial refrigeration systems using natural refrigerants like ammonia and CO₂.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed mechanical designs for refrigeration systems in cold storage and food processing facilities.
- Perform engineering calculations including thermal analysis, tolerance dimensions, and structural assessments.
- Ensure all designs comply with company standards, industry regulations, and customer specifications.
- Prepare and submit detailed design drawings to internal teams for review and approval.
- Provide technical support during the fabrication and installation phases to ensure design accuracy.
- Create Bills of Materials (BOM) and input data into the ERP system.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure correct execution of designs.
- Coordinate with purchasing for timely and accurate procurement of materials.
- Communicate with vendors to clarify part specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks).
- Solid understanding of mechanical and refrigeration engineering principles.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Occasional travel to job sites may be required depending on project needs.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated or standing) for extended periods.
- Occasionally may need to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g., office supplies, small equipment).
Preferences
- Experience with sheet metal and pipe fabrication.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) License.
- Interest in obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Background in refrigeration systems or HVAC/MEP experience.
