About the role

This position is responsible for providing engineering support for turbine, generator, and related mechanical equipment upgrade activities at Priest Rapids and Wanaprum Hydro Power Generation facilities. The role involves engineering guidance to multiple work groups, disassembly, rehabilitation, and reassembly of turbines and generators. Additionally, the position offers technical knowledge and expertise in support of safe, reliable, and efficient Power Production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement low impact mechanical projects in support of hydro generation mechanical systems, capital projects, maintenance activities, and equipment upgrades.
  • Provide project management support that includes budget forecasts, scheduling, coordination, construction/commissioning for small-sized projects.
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, and training for less experienced team members.
  • Research, design, and support implementation of new and upgraded mechanical equipment with considerable guidance from supervisors and senior engineers.
  • Provide technical knowledge to assist other Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Operators or other departments throughout Power Production.
  • Generate, interpret, review and revise existing/new drawings.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD's mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and Grant PUD / IBEW Local 77 Code of Excellence.
  • Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & Procedures.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, materials, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Familiarity with piping systems, hydraulics, and heat exchangers.
  • Experience with rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, bearings, and gearboxes.
  • Skills with computer aided drafting programs such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance experience and optimization techniques related to rotating and fixed equipment.
  • Technical writing and ability to draft reports associated with performance of critical equipment and their impacts on operations and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology field.
  • Valid State driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Engineer II: 1+ year of experience.
  • Engineer III: 3+ years of experience.
  • Engineer IV: 6+ years of experience.

Skills

  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and methods surrounding engineering industry standards and best practices.
  • Project management tools and techniques.
  • Technical competencies with an attention toward detail.
  • Financial management philosophies.

Starting pay is based on job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, internal alignment, and organizational needs. Pay

Salary ranges for the positions are as follows:

  • Engineer II: $85,623 - $139,896 Midpoint: $112,760
  • Engineer III: $104,822 - $177,107 Midpoint: $140,964
  • Engineer IV: $112,585 - $192,317 Midpoint: $152,452
