Core Responsibilities
- Manage capital and operations and maintenance (O&M) projects, including coordination of scope, schedule, and budget
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors and contractors to support project development and execution

Design and Testing
- Design and conduct tests on power plant equipment; analyze results and provide recommendations for performance improvement
- Develop detailed test plans and procedures that ensure safety, operational continuity, and coordination across impacted teams
Troubleshooting and Installation
- Troubleshoot plant equipment issues and recommend corrective actions to resolve operational and maintenance problems
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment; provide technical oversight and issue resolution
Data Analysis and Training
- Analyze operating data and logs to identify trends, diagnose issues, and improve system performance
- Contribute to the development of capital and O&M budgets by identifying needs and recommending projects
- Affirmative action statement: Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and training programs
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain and improve documentation control and change management standards for power plant systems
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours technical support

Skills and Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of power plant systems (boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, valves, steam systems) – Intermediate
- Understanding of plant performance metrics (efficiency, heat rates, fuel characteristics) – Intermediate
- Familiarity with control and instrumentation systems – Intermediate
- Foundational to intermediate knowledge of electrical systems (relays, transformers, breakers, auxiliary systems) – Intermediate
- Project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, budget coordination) – Intermediate
- Data analysis and technical reporting – Intermediate
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis – Intermediate
- Strong organizational and time management skills – Intermediate
- Safety and compliance awareness (industrial and environmental) – Intermediate
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Valid driver’s license required
- Prefer four or more years of experience in power generation or a related industrial environment
- Ongoing learning through classes and seminars related to power plant and utility technologies

In-person role based at power plant locations in Madison, WI
