About the role

This Mechanical Engineer will develop mechanical designs in support of various Buildings Design Business Line projects. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Building HVAC system(s)
  • Building plumbing system(s)
  • Building fire protection system(s)
  • Whole building energy modeling
  • Building sustainability requirements reporting

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Mentor and train technical staff.
  • Interface with clients on project design, delivery, and construction.
  • Manage project budget and schedule compliance.
  • Oversee the mechanical design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase.
  • Utilize BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel based calculation tools for design calculations.
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Be responsible for time management and product quality.
  • Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans.
  • Continuously learn and adapt based on project needs and team needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET accredited university or college.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • 5-10 years of building design and construction industry experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principals related to building mechanical designs.
  • Proven experience overseeing mechanical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
  • Techically competent in building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Preferred Skills

  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec.
  • Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria.
