About the role

Join the Zero Emissions Design team to help shape Peterbilt’s future electric-powered vehicles. This role involves collaborating with the PACCAR Technical Center, PACCAR Vehicle Electric Powertrain Team, Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, Management, and Suppliers to evaluate customer requirements and define vehicle-level targets for the next generation of industry-leading trucks. Responsibilities include new development programs, analysis of potential product designs, maturing concepts, problem resolution, and supporting various aspects of product development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage deliverables across multiple projects, providing guidance on tools and processes.
  • Work in a collaborative small-team environment to explore and evaluate advanced vehicle technologies.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior engineers.
  • Maintain DFMEA and DVP tasks and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to integrate and validate electric powertrain components into PACCAR trucks.
  • Leverage internal product development processes and Six Sigma skills to ensure high-quality results, manage progress, and report updates.
  • Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
  • Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
  • Support pilot builds at PACCAR truck factories.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
  • 7+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience leading engineering projects.
  • DFSS green belt certification desired.
  • Knowledge and experience with Battery Electric Powertrain integration desired.
  • Basic knowledge of Pro/E or other similar solid modeling software.
  • Familiarity with project management methods and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, adaptability to change, and self-starter capabilities.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Ability to apply standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and related computer software.
