About the role

The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for supporting manufacturing projects. This position combines hands-on technical work and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems
  • Perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis
  • Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for the design improvement modifications and implementation of advanced technologies
  • Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed
  • Interface with government personnel

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
  • Proven ability to independently drive tasks and projects from concept to production
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks)
  • Experience with engineering drawings including GD&T, and design for manufacturing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and producing components and systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across interdisciplinary teams
  • Technical writing skills, with experience authoring test plans, procedures, and detailed technical reports
  • Familiarity with researching and applying relevant military and commercial specifications and standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO)
  • Conceptual and/or practical experience with finite element analysis (FEA) methods to support mechanical design and evaluation

Qualifications

  • Physical Demand: Frequent walking, standing, and moving between workstations in the machine shop environment
  • Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Regular exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations typical of a machine shop
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access materials or equipment

Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
