Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Conduct field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces.
  • Prepare field reports and punch lists.
  • Provide mentoring to junior staff.

Requirements

  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of mechanical codes, energy codes, NFPA codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software (IESVE for HVAC, Trane Trace, and/or HAP).
  • Develop project job specific discipline specifications independently from a company master specification.
  • Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with architects and other building engineers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Able to take direction, follow process, and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers.
  • Able to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD.

Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the buildings design industry.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or is currently working toward professional licensure.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
