About the role
Radiance Technologies, an employee-owned company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Emerging and Disruptive Technologies Group in the design and analysis of Directed Energy systems and instrumentation. This role involves direct support for design, development, integration, and testing efforts for multiple Government and military customers. The candidate will apply mechanical engineering and design principles to develop mechanical structures, enclosures, and opto-mechanical components, including thermal and flow analyses. Work will include individual contributions and collaboration within a diverse, multi-discipline engineering team on multiple simultaneous efforts.
Responsibilities
- Apply sound mechanical engineering and design principles to develop mechanical structures, enclosures, and opto-mechanical components.
- Perform thermal and flow analyses.
- Support design, development, integration, and testing efforts for Government and military customers.
- Work independently and within a multi-discipline engineering team on multiple, simultaneous projects with tight schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
- Demonstrated proficiency using SolidWorks 3D modeling tool.
- Ability to work independently on projects with tight schedules.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
- 3 years of engineering experience (Advanced STEM degrees will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis).
Qualifications
- Experience using precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Experience with the design of electro-optical system packaging and mounting structures for military platforms.
- Experience interfacing and communicating with customers and teammates.
- Experience with opto-mechanical designs with precision tuning/adjusting capabilities.
- Experience creating technical drawings according to ASME Y14.100.
- Experience with structural and/or thermal analysis (FEA, Stress, Model, Thermal).
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
