Job Description

The program field office (PFO) at BWXT in Lynchburg, Virginia provides oversight of all aspects of the manufacture of naval cores and steam generator components. The engineer in this position will be responsible for providing comprehensive oversight for the manufacture and delivery of reactor core and steam generator components. Engineers in the PFO assume substantial responsibility, overseeing and advising BWXT on the resolution of production issues while balancing cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

  • Communicate frequently with vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical oversight and perform surveillances at BWXT.
  • Complete reviews of design and vendor drawings to assure manufacturability and compliance to requirements.
  • Provide technical assessments of contract specifications as needed.
  • Perform engineering evaluations and analyses and make recommendations to the core vendor and Program stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Monitor progress to plan and communicate status to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate process development and qualification efforts to assure product specifications are met and maintained.
  • Participate in work planning for major projects, ensure resources are aligned, and execute risk mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Exercise leadership and influence to ensure project and schedule requirements are met.
  • Participate in strategic planning.

Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field; or Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in a factory environment for most of an 8-hour day.
  • Ability to upgrade to and maintain a DOE-Q clearance.
  • Experience working in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Previous core manufacturing or core design knowledge.
  • Previous field office experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually

Responsibilities
