Mechanical Engineer
About the role
Molex is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced fiber optic interconnect solutions. This role is critical in advancing Molex’s mission to enable high-speed, high-density optical connectivity for tomorrow’s data and communication needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and validation of fiber optic components and systems, including connectors and cable assemblies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, and product management) to develop scalable optical solutions
- Conduct simulations, prototyping, and testing of optical systems to meet performance and reliability standards
- Drive continuous improvement in optical design processes and manufacturing techniques
- Gain and apply comprehensive understanding of fiber optic products, installation, and test methods to all new product development projects
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- Solid mechanical design experience in new product development
- Experience with parametric solid modeling (NX, Creo, SolidWorks)
- Design experience with multiple manufacturing techniques (injection molding, insert molding, sheet-metal forming, machining, extrusion)
- Desire to learn, be challenged, and interact in a cross-functional team environment
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the need for employer sponsorship, now or in the future
- Within a daily commutable distance to Lisle, IL and will not require relocation assistance
Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of fiber optic products, installation, and test methods
Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
