Essential Responsibilities
- Independently design and document large customized lead-lined enclosures, instrumentation systems, and electromechanical assemblies with minimal supervision using SolidWorks.
- Develop production-ready 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting engineering documentation.
- Evaluate customer requirements, specifications, drawings, and technical data to develop innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement through design optimization, material selection, and process enhancements.
- Support product development, manufacturing, and installation activities by coordinating with engineering, operations, suppliers, and quality teams.
- Provide troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and engineering change management (ECR/ECN) support.
- Lead or support testing, validation, tooling and fixture design, work instruction development, and field evaluations to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Promote operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including kaizen events and cross-functional problem-solving teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of related engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience creating detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs for production environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, engineering change management, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IPC-A-610, J-STD standards, ESD controls, and FDA-regulated environments is preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear work instructions, technical reports, and customer-facing documentation.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing, inventory, project management, spreadsheet, and word-processing software.
- Proficient with standard electronic and mechanical test equipment, including calipers, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
