Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze and produce deliverables for our clients.
  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ requirements for the future built environment.
  • Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project tasks as required, such as dry-mechanical, wet-mechanical, plumbing/process systems.
  • Tasks could include developing floor plans, flow diagrams, schedules, details and calculations such as pump head calculations, pipe sizing and distribution, and selection of equipment, etc.
  • Support our collaboration of multi-discipline Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing/process piping, Instrumentation & Controls, Telecom/Technology team specifically working on large scale Building Systems engineering designs.
  • Project type will vary but may include Advanced Technology, Industrial, Micro-electronics, Mission Critical, Hospitals, Central Utility Plants and more.
  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls
  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
  • Able to work individually or in a multi-discipline team
