About the role

Perform technical analysis for assigned tasks with specific objectives, requiring investigation of a limited number of variables. Exercise judgment on task details and recommend technical alternatives, component design or selection, and adaptations to meet requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Research and select materials based on customer’s strength or tooling requirements
  • Create drawings from 3D models in accordance with ASME standards
  • Reverse engineer parts and assemblies using standard machine shop inspection tools to correct missing or inaccurate data in drawings
  • Manage projects and coordinate procurement and fabrication to meet cost and schedule requirements
  • Design aircraft components using derived requirements and perform FEA to validate strength
  • Select and manage vendors based on capabilities throughout the project’s lifecycle
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures (ISO9001, AS9100D, and NADCAP)
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Write detailed build, assembly, inspection, and production instructions for the production team
  • Identify root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for discrepancies and deficiencies
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve process efficiency
  • Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical publications
  • Support organizational goals by accepting ownership of new and varied requests
  • Perform duties under the supervision of senior engineer(s)
  • Follow, perform, and record results of test plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or other relevant engineering or science discipline (required)
  • 2+ years of professional experience in the required task area
  • Experience reading and interpreting government 2D drawings
  • Experience designing tooling for manufacturing, repair, and assembly of aircraft parts and other products
  • Composites manufacturing design experience (preferred)
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (preferred)
  • Proficiency in NX and/or SolidWorks, with ability to model complex, lofted aerospace parts (preferred)
  • Experience with tooling and fixture design, structural analysis, environmental systems, or testing (a plus)
  • Experience with Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and corrosion background (preferred)

Security

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
  • Prolonged periods of computer screen use while sitting or standing at a desk
  • Adhere to safety protocols in work areas requiring PPE (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes)
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Pay

The projected salary range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000. Actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or degrees held. Offered salary may fall outside of this range.
