Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment for industrial projects and facilities. This role is responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs, equipment layouts, technical specifications, and engineering documentation to support industrial operations and process systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs and engineering deliverables for industrial systems and equipment.
- Prepare and review: Equipment layouts, Mechanical drawings and models, P&IDs, Mechanical datasheets, Piping and utility system designs, and Equipment specifications and technical documentation.
- Create 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed design drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations including: Pump and equipment sizing, Pressure drop analysis, Heat transfer calculations, Fluid flow analysis, Mechanical load evaluations.
- Support the selection and specification of mechanical equipment such as pumps, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, and piping systems.
- Cover designs with process, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation engineering teams.
- Review vendor drawings and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and technical meetings with internal teams and clients.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, drafting practices, and design procedures.
- Aid in troubleshooting and design optimization for existing industrial systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering for industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Proficiency with engineering and design software such as SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA, and OSHA.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping systems, and industrial equipment design.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
