Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities
- Develop new products from supplied business cases and new product requests, guiding them through to full production.
- Create, research, design, and develop new specialty connector component products or assemblies at an advanced engineering level.
- Process designs including detailing prints, procuring prototypes, and managing all documentation.
- Create and maintain solid models, working within the Inventor CAD with a Vault Management environment.
- Develop and execute test parameters for reliability engineering with follow-up analysis.
- Design products for custom applications as required, handling procurement, manufacturing, and testing.
- Create layouts for product enhancements to support value-engineering activities and perform cost analysis.
- Benchmark competitive designs/processes, materials, and functions, recommending processes and materials.
- Document and record all aspects of product development.
- Manage commercialization of products, including BOM accuracy, releasing drawings, and maintaining schedule tracks.
- Prepare documentation and conduct design reviews and release meetings as required.
- Develop training material and provide coaching to manufacturing staff, as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product concepts, design, and quality.
- Provide support for new and existing products and participate in continuous engineering improvements.
- Seek out improvement opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs.
- Lead small cross-functional teams and manage projects independently.
- Keep current with industry design trends and maintain confidentiality of information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in a mechanical design engineering position.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles.
- Proficient in solid model CAD with 2000 hours in Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Able to handle multiple tasks and manage activities requiring immediate and long-term attention.
- Knowledge of fluid power products, including FasTest products.
- Demonstrated team building skills and ability to work productively with both internal and external organizations.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with motivation to act independently.
- Ability to work overtime to meet position duties.
