About the role
This role offers the opportunity to design and develop innovative mechanical products from concept through prototype, with a strong focus on camera- and sensor-based systems. You will create cutting-edge designs that integrate cameras, sensors, and supporting mechanical structures, emphasizing thermal management, optics, and robust performance.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks to support product development and documentation.
- Apply thermal management principles and perform thermal simulations to ensure reliable operation of camera and sensor systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Develop, document, and manage mechanical design requirements to ensure products meet or exceed performance, reliability, and quality standards.
- Conduct design validation activities, including testing, tolerance stack-ups, and design reviews, to confirm design intent and performance.
- Perform root cause analysis and structured problem-solving to resolve design and product issues.
- Incorporate design for manufacturability and assembly principles into all designs to support efficient and cost-effective production.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.
- Work independently with minimal supervision to drive projects forward, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
Requirements
- Must have 5+ years of experience in mechanical product design, preferably with a focus on camera and sensor-based systems.
- Experience with proven product design experience, including design for manufacturing.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed mechanical drawings.
- Experience with thermal simulations and thermal management in product design.
- Hands-on experience with tolerance stack-ups and their application to mechanical assemblies.
- Strong understanding of production design principles, including design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and deliver high-quality designs with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Ansys or similar simulation tools, particularly for thermal analysis.
- Familiarity with optics design and machine vision applications.
- Experience integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components in complex products.
- Experience in developing camera-focused or sensor-focused products is highly desirable.
