About the role
The Mechanical Engineer, Facilities is responsible for assisting with the planning and design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Duties also include generating engineering reports, preparing project specifications, assembling permit applications, and providing engineering oversight during construction.
Responsibilities
- Prepares project layouts and construction plans
- Assists in various design elements to complete projects, systems, components, or systems with other team members
- Prepares and maintains complete project documentation including plans, specifications, and estimates
- Evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to project assignments
- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work
- Prepares project scopes, tasks, budgets, schedules, project specifications, and engineering reports
- Prepares proposals including bid documents, project reports, studies, and other documentation
- Assembles permit submittals for City, County, and State agencies
- Performs basic and moderately complex engineering design calculations
- Aids in construction administration services and learns to respond to construction needs on various projects
- Attends and participates in pre-construction and construction coordination meetings, internal project meetings, planning meetings, and client meetings
- Assists with site observation work and compiles site visit reports
- Drafts departmental reports and correspondence
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 2-5 years' experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with REVIT
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word
Qualifications
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and clients
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a high-volume office environment under pressure of heavy deadlines
- Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary
- Licenses: Valid drivers' license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record. Florida Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer in Training (EIT) with ability to obtain licensure within 36 months of hire
