Responsibilities

  • Providing mechanical technical guidance/leadership to accomplish the work committed to in proposals and assigning / leading the appropriate mechanical resources to do the work.
  • Aid Project/Client Managers by providing engineering resources – a design team - to help meet the client’s desires and budget.
  • Occasionally involve in direct sales and assist with sales efforts for multidiscipline projects.
  • Technical and Quality oversight of all mechanical work.
  • Authority for all technical decisions made for projects within the Department including establishing/improving mechanical design standards.
  • Take 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
  • Actively participate in recruitment of mechanical staff including networking, recruitment, interviewing and "deal closing".
  • Organize mechanical staff in a way to allow career advancement, professional development, quality client service, and operational efficiencies to meet business and project financial goals.
  • Schedule for the mechanical department/staff including: Project assignments and priorities, Delivery due dates for group project commitments, Workload/Capacity, Annual evaluations for each direct report.
  • Provide general updates of where mechanical discipline is at on projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, budget, etc.).
  • Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time for good design coordination.
  • Pay attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services.

Requirements

  • Accomplished mechanical engineer/PE with 15+ years of progressive technical experience in the design of mechanical systems.
  • Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success in meeting contract specifications and achieving high performance and growth of a team.
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
