About the role

You’ll assist the Engineering Team Lead with assigning tasks and providing direction to the Design group. This position performs mechanical design for power, lighting, low-voltage system construction projects, and Faith/Excellerate/Entech products. The incumbent must be recognized as possessing a high level of technical depth in at least one design area.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma in Mechanical CAD Drafting or Associate Degree in Mechanical Design Technology
  • 8 years of progressive mechanical design experience
  • 5 years of product development experience preferred
  • 10–15% travel

Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  • Prepares mechanical designs for power, lighting, and low-voltage electrical system installations or Faith/Excellerate/Entech products
  • Interacts with Estimating and Project Managers to collaborate on design intent
  • Checks CAD-produced drawings against design input for accuracy
  • Documents and helps present technical information during design reviews, normally in the form of CAD model presentations and manipulations for viewing and discussion
  • Presents design services to clients and meets with them to uncover their needs, as needed
  • Interfaces and coordinates with clients and other subcontractors: architectural, civil, structural, HVAC, plumbing, and fire-protection system design
  • Performs mechanical calculations and provides code-compliant designs
  • Sufficiently documents scope of design for customer review and ensures that all assumptions in design are documented to avoid risk
  • Leads, directs, coordinates, and assists with the work activities of the Design staff relating to design functions
  • Prepares complete design proposals to present to the client

The job description and responsibilities described are guidelines; additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisors as appropriate.

Schedule

This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday–Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
