Engineering & Design Department Position Summary The Mechanical Designer I assists in developing mechanical and plumbing design solutions while working alongside experienced engineers and senior designers. This position provides the opportunity to develop technical design skills, learn industry codes and standards, and gain practical experience with HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. R.A. Compensation & Benefits Walton & Company offers a competitive executive compensation package and comprehensive benefits, which may include: Competitive salary based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysOngoing professional development and leadership opportunities Essential Responsibilities Assist in preparing mechanical and plumbing designs based on project direction and specifications.Work with construction drawings, sketches, and scanned images to assist in developing design documents.Assist with basic HVAC and plumbing calculations using established methods and tools.Support coordination of mechanical and plumbing drawings with other trades.Reference applicable building codes and industry standards with guidance from experienced team members.Assist with organizing design files, calculations, and project documentation.Participate in site surveys and project data collection as assigned.Communicate with engineers, designers, and other internal team members to gather necessary project information.Participate in project meetings while developing knowledge of the mechanical design and construction process. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or GED required.Associate degree, technical/trade school education, or construction-related education preferred.0–2 years of related construction or design experience.Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Autodesk design software.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team.Strong interest in learning mechanical design, applicable codes and standards, and company design practices. Physical Demands & Work Environment This position is primarily office-based and requires regular computer use and extended periods of sitting. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and light lifting of office materials, survey tools, or equipment may be required. Periodic site visits may also be required and can include exposure to active construction environments, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
