Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical and plumbing system design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, semiconductor, and mission-critical building projects.
  • Aid in HVAC layouts, plumbing layouts, piping design, equipment placement, and system coordination.
  • Create construction drawings, design documents, and technical layouts using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Conduct load calculations, system sizing, basis of design narratives, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, architectural, and other project disciplines on mechanical/plumbing designs.
  • Review project specifications, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and construction administration tasks.
  • Evaluate drawings and documentation for accuracy, coordination, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Stay updated with applicable codes and standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, LEED, and local requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with senior engineers, project managers, consultants, contractors, and internal team members.
  • Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, calculations, and project records.
  • Continuously enhance technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and building systems design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field preferred.
  • 1–5 years of mechanical/plumbing design experience in the AEC, MEP, construction, or building systems industry preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with HVAC layouts, plumbing systems, piping layouts, equipment selection, and load calculations preferred.
  • Familiarity with Trane Trace, COMcheck, Excel, OneNote, Word, or similar design/documentation tools is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, LEED, and building design standards preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to support multiple project deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn from senior engineers and grow within mechanical/plumbing system design.
