About the role

Create detailed technical drawings and schematics based on engineering specifications. Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks) to produce accurate and precise designs, revise drawings based on feedback, and ensure compliance with military, commercial, and international industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed technical drawings and schematics based on specifications provided by engineering.
  • Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks) to produce accurate and precise drawings.
  • Revise drawings based on feedback from engineering and manufacturing, ensuring all changes are incorporated accurately.
  • Use best judgement to solve complex design problems while considering cost, simplicity, and production feasibility.
  • Provide recommendations for material selection and assist in cost and direct labor estimates.
  • Work closely with engineering and project management to understand requirements and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clarity and accuracy in the design process.
  • Attend project meetings to provide input and updates on design progress.
  • Maintain professional and courteous conduct with supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with military, commercial, and international industry standards, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks on drawings produced by junior drafters, peer designers, and engineering to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain drafting standards and procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Maintain organized records of all drawings and related documents, ensuring proper file storage and accessibility.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in CAD software and drafting techniques.
  • Propose and implement improvements to drafting processes to enhance productivity and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 6 years prior experience, or Master’s degree and a minimum of 4 years prior experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor; Siemens PADS and CAM 350 a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Costpoint, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (e.g., Green Card holder), or a protected individual as defined by ITAR to conform to U.S. Government export regulations.

Pay

$100,000–$125,000/yr, depending on experience.
