Mechanical Designer
About the role
As part of the talented Navico Group – Power Solutions team, you will support a wide portfolio of marine and RV electrical products. You will work closely with engineering, product management, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to maintain and improve existing products through accurate documentation, engineering change management, and product data control.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for marine and RV electrical products.
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), ensuring changes are implemented accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain product structures, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation within Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support product updates, cost reduction projects, supplier changes, quality improvements, and sustaining engineering activities.
- Ensure drawings and documentation meet company standards and support manufacturing requirements.
- Assist in the release, revision, and archival of engineering documentation.
- Support prototype and production activities by creating and maintaining documentation packages.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering documentation, configuration management, and change control processes.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical design, drafting, or engineering documentation experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Creo.
- Experience creating and modifying detailed engineering drawings and assemblies.
- Experience processing ECOs/ECRs and managing engineering documentation revisions.
- Familiarity with bills of materials (BOMs), configuration management, and document control processes.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or similar PLM/PDM software.
- Experience with injection molded plastic, stamped metal, and machined components.
- Experience supporting marine, RV, automotive, industrial, or electrical products.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid office environment. Three days required in the office.
- Engineering lab and warehouse.
- Travel 5% or less.
Pay
The hiring range for this position is $47,000 – $65,200 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
