Mechanical Designer

About the role

The Mechanical Designer / 3D CAD Technician produces and maintains accurate 3D models, 2D drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) documentation for mechanical designs in a manufacturing environment. Working from direction, sketches, and markups provided by lead engineering staff, this role applies sound design judgment to identify potential design, manufacturability, or drafting improvements and brings them forward for engineering review. The position requires solid working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards and adherence to established CAD and drafting conventions. This role operates in a manufacturing-oriented engineering environment that relies heavily on 2D and 3D CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD. Work is primarily performed at a workstation using CAD and ERP systems, with regular collaboration with engineering, production, materials, and field services teams to support mechanical design and documentation needs. The environment emphasizes accuracy, adherence to drafting and GD&T standards, organized document control,
