This position is based at Nikkiso ACD, LLC in Santa Ana, CA, an engineering and manufacturing company specializing in machinery designed to operate at cryogenic temperatures as low as –420°F. For over 50 years, Nikkiso ACD has led the industry in centrifugal and reciprocating pumps as well as turbines for air separation, offering the most diversified product line for nearly every application requiring pumps or turboexpanders.

About the Role

This position is responsible for implementing project designs and improvements to existing products in accordance with department procedures, working under project team plans. The Design Engineer researches and evaluates products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability, ensures fit, form, and function of designs, and collaborates with other departments to ensure production and packaging align with customer specifications and ACD procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, models, and tests prototypes for products
  • Conducts research and creates design proposals for projects
  • Develops concepts, performance, and production criteria
  • Identifies and selects materials needed for production
  • Produces final hand drawings and specifications
  • Creates parts lists and ensures value engineering practices are applied
  • Builds working models for demonstration
  • Participates in planning marketing initiatives for products
  • Negotiates appropriate production processes
  • Evaluates products and processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Collaborates with the Engineering team and other departments to meet production schedules
  • Uses computer-aided design (CAD) to create concepts and layout pumps and systems
  • Follows department processes and procedures, providing feedback for improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (required)
  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role (required)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and FEA
  • Experience with SolidWorks and GD&T
  • Ability to analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts
  • Experience making equipment layouts and performing fundamental engineering calculations
  • Ability to plan and formulate design engineering programs and work with project teams according to project requirements
  • Skill in reviewing product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in an engineering design role may be accepted.

Pay

$70,000 – $100,000 per year
