Mechanical Design Engineer II

Role Overview

Responsible for supervising the daily operations of a Powersports Design Function, including policy management, process improvement, resource allocation, and issue resolution to ensure efficient output. Contribute to prototype development, apply new technologies, and maintain global vehicle quality.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of design engineers across various skill levels, managing deliverables such as specifications, drawings, and development documents for multiple projects.
• Lead internal communication and collaboration to deliver results, resolve issues, and share best practices.
• Assign work, assess team skills, and facilitate associate growth through goal setting, performance reviews, and training.
• Identify inefficiencies, lead root cause analysis, and implement best practices.
• Represent team perspectives in resource planning and project discussions; occasionally assume management duties related to procurement and operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience, with 4+ years in supervisory or project leadership roles.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficient in Microsoft Office, CAD, FMEA, and product development schedules.
• Ability to resolve conflicts, operate confidentially, and apply analytical and problem-solving techniques.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with occasional travel, including possible overseas trips. Work involves keyboarding, with limited physical activity, and adherence to safety policies.
