Mechanical BIM Designer , Design Services
About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
You will be part of a highly creative and efficient MEP BIM team tasked with designing challenging and complex projects with innovative solutions for Amazon-owned data center facilities. You will influence data center design documents for air handling units, cooling towers, chillers, control systems, fire detection/suppression systems, piping and plumbing systems. You will produce, maintain, and publish permit mechanical engineering drawing sets for our fleet of data centers.

Responsibilities
- Design mechanical and plumbing systems of data centers and utilize Revit to create and maintain BIM models
- Work independently and within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks, collaborating with internal groups and external suppliers, consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors
- Prepare and develop detailed Revit models of mechanical and plumbing building systems
- Develop and publish construction documentation for mechanical and plumbing building systems designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables
- Update and modify existing models and construction documents as required
- Assist with creating and maintaining standard regional BIM templates
- Participate in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations
- Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers
- Provide coordination support for information requests during construction phases
- Record and report key metrics to management
- Travel to data center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys as required, on average once or twice a year
- Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions and maintain a positive attitude
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- 4+ years’ experience using Revit for producing mechanical and plumbing engineering BIM models and construction drawings
- 5+ years of design/engineering experience of mechanical and plumbing building systems for mission-critical facilities
- Practical knowledge and understanding of mechanical and plumbing codes (IPC or UPC) and safety regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers
- Experience and knowledge applying Lean principles to design modeling and drawing production
- Experience with developing Revit Family content
