Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assembles and reassembles pre-fitted parts based on standardized requirements using a variety of hand tools, measurement devices and power tools.
- Fits and aligns parts to ensure free action of movable parts within operating requirements, including pumps, booms and belts.
- Installs some or all of the following components: electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical, meeting the Putzmeister standard of high quality.
- Performs one or more of the following: minor drilling, welding, and torching jobs.
- Completes documentation checklists.
- Ensures that all the components of the machine agree with the BOM.
- Assists other Assemblers and Lead People as required.
- Informs Supervisor and Lead People of problems including shortages and material or vendor quality issues.
- Tests installed components to ensure they are working properly and advises the Supervisor or Team Leader of any discrepancies.
- Assembles conveyor assembly and mounting after the truck comes back from the painting department, followed by the final stability test.
- Ensures that the work area is orderly, clean and safe on a daily basis.
- Maintains Putzmeister America’s high standards of quality.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical assembly skills.
- A high standard of attention to detail.
- Able to read and understand some or all of the following: hydraulic drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and photo stories.
- Experienced in the use of hydraulic presses and/or overhead cranes.
- Must supply personal set of basic tools.
Education/Certification/Training
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in manufacturing helpful.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
- The noise level in this environment is frequently loud.
- Ability to continuously stand or walk; and the ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
