Mechanical Assembler
About the role
Mechanical Assemblers are responsible for processing or preparing a limited range of components or subassemblies, working within prescribed routines and making minor decisions. They perform tasks such as fitting, aligning, adjusting, drilling, cutting off, and assembling parts according to instructions and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Work from job packets, production schedules, checklists, prints, instructions, and procedures to plan and execute assembly tasks.
- Evaluate assembly drawings, bills of material, or prints to determine the steps needed for assembling and fabricating parts and units.
- Visually inspect parts for defects and communicate any discrepancies to the Production Lead.
- Fit, align, adjust, drill, cut off, and assemble purchased parts to produce subassemblies for air movement equipment.
- Set robotic drills with prescribed tools and programs and operate them as required to drill profiles as needed.
- Insert pins, screws, springs, and other connecting and holding devices.
- Fasten parts together using bolts, screws, rivets, or other specified fasteners.
- Select, count, weigh, and kit parts in accordance with bills of material and production schedules.
- Report shortages and stage kitted items for movement to workstations.
- Ensure proper operation of or completeness of finished work products and make required adjustments following prescribed procedures.
- Operate in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform or assist with any operations necessary to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments, requirements, and policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, bills of material, and production schedules.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols and the ability to follow safety rules and requirements.
- Good visual inspection skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to learn and apply new processes and technologies.

Pay
Compensation range: $19.93 per hour.
Schedule
First shift: Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
