Mechanical Assembler

Full-time position in Three Rivers, Michigan, United States.

About the role

The Mechanical Assembler assembles water heater systems within the Steam and Condensate Group. This includes performing mechanical assembly operations, routing wiring harnesses, and making electrical and gas connections in accordance with engineering specifications and assembly instructions. The position also involves testing, evaluating, repairing, and packaging completed units to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble water heater components and systems according to technical drawings and work instructions.
• Route wiring harnesses and perform electrical and gas connections with precision and safety.
• Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting of assembled units.
• Perform repairs and adjustments as needed to meet quality standards.
• Package completed products for shipment, ensuring labeling and documentation accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
• Willingness to learn or train in the position.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of electrical and gas systems.
• Ability to read and follow assembly instructions, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements

• Able to read documents written in Standard English text.
• This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Physical and mental stamina to stand, walk, lift, and adjust to the noise and lighting of the manufacturing environment.
