WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mechanical and Fire Protection Lead with the potential to work out of Arlington, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Denver, CO; Tacoma, WA; San Diego, CA; Dallas, TX; Richmond, VA; or San Antonio, TX.

About the Role

Be involved in projects with our Federal Programs AEC Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges. Lead the development and management of the Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Engineering teams for WSP USA Federal Programs AEC Team. Manage all MP/FP staff in project assignments and maintain targeted utilization. Lead recruitment of additional MP/FP staff.

Performance of mechanical engineering design and production support from project inception through construction. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. Review other mechanical engineers' work for code compliance and constructability. Estimate design effort and assist in fee preparations and negotiations with Architectural-Engineering firms and General Contractors. Address contractor submittals and requests for information (RFIs).

Responsibilities

Lead the development and management of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Engineering teams.
Manage MP/FP staff in project assignments and maintain targeted utilization.
Recruit additional MP/FP staff.
Perform mechanical engineering design and production support from project inception through construction.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Review other mechanical engineers' work for code compliance and constructability.
Estimate design effort and assist in fee preparations and negotiations.
Address contractor submittals and requests for information (RFIs).

Requirements

12+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer working on facilities/building projects.
Professional Engineering license.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent.
Familiarity with Department of Defense projects (USACE/NAVFAC).
Ability to travel (domestic and international).
Familiarity with both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods for projects.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Active or ability to obtain a US Government issued security clearance or CAC.

Pay

Expected Salary (all locations): $153,000 - $225,000. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $163,800 - $210,000. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
