Mechanic Supervisor
About the role
This position oversees mechanics and support staff who repair, service, and inspect a wide range of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment. You will ensure that shop operations stay organized, safe, and effective throughout Westmoreland County.
Responsibilities
Repair Oversight: Direct troubleshooting and repair work on vehicles, equipment, and hand tools
Inspection Supervision: Monitor completion and accuracy of state vehicle inspections and related documentation
Work Coordination: Assign tasks, review work orders, and check parts and time charges for correctness
Facility Safety: Ensure the shop remains clean, safe, and compliant with all safety procedures
Staff Management: Evaluate performance, schedule staff, handle training needs, and support employee development
Tool and Part Control: Purchase parts, maintain inventory, and support major repair efforts when needed
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with possession of the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed or equivalent. This position requires a valid Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification. This position requires possession of a valid Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
Additional Information
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Shift work required to cover the Winter Maintenance Program. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
