Mechanic Supervisor A

About the role

This position is a promotional opportunity for current permanent classified DOTD employees only. It provides supervision, guidance, logistical support and limited administration in the District's Mobile Equipment Repair Sub‑shop located in Harrisonburg. The incumbent assigns and supervises repairs on state equipment performed by mechanics, covering both light‑duty and heavy equipment, and ensures employees have the necessary equipment, tools, and shop supplies to accomplish their duties. The role is located in Catahoula Parish, District 58, Unit 072 and reports to the Equipment Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Assign and supervise repairs on state equipment.
• Equip employees with necessary equipment, tools, and shop supplies to accomplish their assigned duties.
• Order and purchase parts and supplies.
• Compile all parts invoices and repair orders.
• Perform limited administrative functions by exercising full supervisory responsibility over the Harrisonburg shop personnel and shop activities.

Requirements

Four years of experience or training as a mechanic.

Pay

No less than $24.10 per hour (depending on qualifications).

Schedule

Full-time weekdays.
