Must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, crawling, climbing, reaching, lifting heavy objects (up to 100 pounds or more depending on the job), and performing repetitive motions with hands and arms, often while working in tight spaces. This job requires good overall strength, dexterity, and endurance.
Responsibilities
- Complete quality preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on all company-owned equipment, including tractors, trailers, refrigerated units, and support equipment.
- Perform inspections to identify damaged or faulty internal/external components to meet company, OEM, and DOT specifications, as well as preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Repair or replace standard internal/external body components, including cab, body panels, glass, mirrors, restraints, safety devices, radio, upholstery, telematics, and steering/suspension systems.
- Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform minor and/or complex repairs for all equipment.
- Disassemble, repair, and re-assemble heavy truck and trailer components, including refrigerated units, diesel engines, transmissions, axles, and other systems.
- Perform offsite repairs, including minor to mid-level roadside breakdowns and tire maintenance (repairs, failure analysis, coding, identification).
- Test drive equipment if certified.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Provide daily oversight to assigned mechanics to ensure productivity and quality goals are achieved.
- Provide guidance to mechanics related to diagnostics and repair processes/procedures.
- Proactively assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.
Requirements
- 3+ years' experience with on-the-job training or a diploma in vehicle maintenance from a vocational or trade school.
- Must possess the tools required to accomplish essential job functions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Driver’s license required.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Ability to read and understand repair manuals, complete/fill tags, and repair orders.
- Ability to use and learn various diagnostic software for tractors/trailers.
- Excellent computer skills.
Pay
$23.67 - $32.57 hourly.
