About the role
Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of various types of refrigeration and air conditioning units, equipment, and corresponding control systems. Troubleshoots and repairs air handling units, DX, chilled water, hot water, humidifier systems, variable air volume boxes, and all associated electric, pneumatic, and direct digital controls.
Responsibilities
- Service and maintain both reciprocating and screw chillers, environmental test chambers, kitchen refrigeration equipment, custom automotive test cells, paint booths, and building automation systems (BAS).
- Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
- Perform brazing and soldering.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts and equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, pneumatic controls, direct digital controls (DDC), and mechanical refrigeration components.
- Install, troubleshoot, and replace Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems and control modules.
- Perform PLC programming as it relates to HVAC equipment.
- Inspect HVAC systems to detect malfunctions and make necessary repairs and adjustments.
- Perform incidental tasks to complete larger tasks.
- Complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on HVAC and other equipment.
- Perform vibration analysis.
- Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and company.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Eight (8) years of documented experience or a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Mechanic-Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in a manufacturing environment.
- E.P.A. certified in refrigerant recovery.
- Holds such licenses as the laws of the community require.
- Ability to work any shift and work some overtime, including daily, weekend, and holidays, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and G-Suite.
- Strong computer skills.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
- Johnson Metasys experience (preferred).
- Low temperature process refrigeration experience (preferred).
