1st Shift: Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Times may vary as needed.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this job is to maintain all tractors, trailers, and live production equipment in operating condition. This includes diagnosing issues, adjusting, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Additionally, this position will be responsible for shuttling tractor/trailers to other locations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair equipment necessary to assure continuous operations with supervision.
  • Maintain support equipment, change trailer and tractor tires, and assist in layout and installation of new and rebuilt parts on equipment with supervision.
  • Assemble or reassemble complex equipment requiring maintenance knowledge with supervision.
  • Maintain a clean work area and other shop areas.
  • Wear proper PPE and follow safety practices and procedures.
  • Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, and lying on back.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Tolerate varying temperatures and conditions, from cold and damp to hot and humid.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Shuttle tractor/trailers to other locations.

Requirements

  • Diesel Mechanic experience.
  • Meet all DOT and Tyson Fleet Safety Driver Qualifications to drive Tyson fleet vehicles.
  • Own basic tools.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Understand written and verbal instructions, shop manuals, and other written documents.
  • Basic computer skills for data input.
  • Experience working with power hand tools, welder, cutting tools, test equipment, forklift, hand tools, hydraulic press, lift equipment, ladder, hydraulic hose crimper, drill press, torque wrenches up to 600 ft/lbs., and other equipment required for maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays if necessary.
  • Six (6) months of Diesel Mechanic experience or graduation from a Diesel Mechanic Training Program (documented on application or resume).
  • Six (6) months of continuous work history with one employer within the last twenty-four (24) months.
